Summer Pilot Course · New Cologne Studio
You've taken a few classes or workshops, you've felt how good it is when a scene clicks — and now you want to stop dropping in and actually build something: with the same people, over a few weeks, going deeper than a one-off ever lets you.
This is for you.
The Summer Pilot is our soft launch at the new Cologne studio: a short, intensive course in English for improvisers who already have some experience and want to sharpen it. Four Fridays. One fixed group. One focused theme — Yes, And — Beyond: the craft of scene-building.
This isn't a first-timer's class. You don't need to be advanced, but you'll get the most out of it if you've already played a little and know the basics.
We'll work as an ensemble from day one. By the end of the four weeks, you'll have moved from solid individual scenes to connected, intentional scene work — and you'll know whether you're ready to commit to our regular 10-week course this September.

This 4-week pilot course is the soft launch of Expat Improv at our brand new Cologne studio. It’s designed for people with some experience — people who want to actually play, in a fixed group, over a few weeks, building real scenes together.
We’ll work as an ensemble from day one, strengthen listening and presence, and move from single exercises to short connected scenes. By the end, you’ll know whether to commit to our regular 10-week course program starting in September.
The Cologne studio is located in Neustadt-Süd, in the Kwartier Latäng / Rathenauviertel neighborhood.

We get it: signing up for a course is a different commitment than dropping in for an evening. Here are the most common questions — so you can decide with confidence.
Yes. The Summer Pilot is designed exactly for people with some experience and want to go a bit deeper.
The Summer Pilot is a compact format timed to wrap up just before the NRW summer holidays begin. It's perfect for a focused introduction — and it gives you the chance to decide whether you want to commit to our regular 10-week course program starting in September.
English. Expat Improv is an English-speaking improv school — designed for the international community in NRW. You don't need to be a native speaker; comfortable conversational English is enough.
The pilot is designed as a connected arc, so showing up to all four sessions matters. If you know in advance that you'll miss one, please let us know before booking — we'll see if it makes sense for you to join now or wait for the September course.
From September 2026, we launch our regular 6-week course program in Cologne — themed sessions on Level 2 fundamentals, Longform, Character Work, Status & Presence, and Emotion on Stage. Summer Pilot participants get priority registration for September. We'll be in touch.
