About the workshop

In this workshop you’ll learn to identify the “game” of a scene and heighten it with intention — the element that makes a scene unique, surprising and funny. You’ll practise spotting patterns, using repetition as a tool and consciously building on the unusual rather than smoothing it over.

You’ll also work on the tools that operate outside the scene: edits — when and how to cut to strengthen the show — and support moves, the ensemble techniques that help your scene partners shine and keep the energy alive from the wings.

The workshop is led by Stacey, former Artistic Director and Director of Education at Boom Chicago Theater Amsterdam.

Bio

Stacey is a performer, director and teacher with over a decade of experience on international stages. Known for her captivating shows, infectious energy and extraordinary work ethic, she served as Artistic Director and head of the education department at the legendary Boom Chicago Theater in Amsterdam — where she also performed as an ensemble member on the main stage.

She has toured internationally with The Second City, appeared in the productions Life Hacks and #DateMe, and shared the stage with comedy heavyweights including Jason Sudeikis, Taran Killam, Amber Ruffin and Arjen Lubach. She is also the creator of Stacejam — a critically acclaimed improvised musical solo show.

Stacey has performed at 25 international improv festivals across Europe and North America — 67 times in total, frequently as a headliner. She has developed training programmes for several schools, created specialised workshops including S.H.E. (Sisterhood Humor Empowerment), and taught at The Second City, iO Chicago, ImprovBoston and ComedySportz Chicago. In 2026 she founded the Amsterdam Comedy Studio.
